Dirk Van has been host of NBC Radio's
"First Light" morning magazine show for seven years. Van broke into
radio in 1977 while doing graduate work in Anthropology at New York University.
He became News Director of WGCH, Greenwich, Connecticut, general assignment
reporter for all-news WCBS, New York, and News Director of WHN, New York during
the following three years, staying at WHN until he moved to the network in
1988.
Van has won numerous awards--Ohio State, New York Press Club, Clarion, Edward R Murrow, Angel, and, he was named "Personality of the Year" by the Radio Festival of New York. His magazine show, "First Light," is a two-time gold medal winner at the Festival.
Van lives with his wife and son in Vienna, Virginia.
