As with a number of other area schools, Newfane is wrestling with a tough budget. School Superintendent Christine Tibbets presented the proposed $31,506,859 budget to the board on Tuesday.
Also last night, Intermediate School Assistant Principal Pam Leibring presented a proposal to lease a majority of the Newfane Intermediate School to BOCES. Dr. Clark Godshall, superintendent of Niagara-Orleans BOCES, discussed the proposal with the board, explaining the plan which would be for five years at $10 a square foot.
BOCES would provide an administrator, clerical staff, teachers and a nurse and would utilize nine classrooms.
The board will vote on the proposal at a later date.
