A number of local officials are hoping to get a strong Niagara County presence on the new regional development council being created by governor Andrew Cuomo.

Letters have been sent to Lieutenant Gov. Robert Duffy pushing Sam Ferraro for the council. According to Kory Schuler, the director of government affairs for the Niagara USA Chamber, told WLVL the county needs someone like Ferraro pleading its case.

Ferraro is currently the county's commisioner of economic development and and executive director of the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency.

No word yet on when the final announcement will come on those appointments.
