The 6th annual Canal Clean Sweep is coming this weekend. In recognition of Earth Day and in preparation for the 186th navigation season on the New York State Canal System, community groups and municipalities will participate in the "spring cleaning" event along the Canal System and the Canalway Trail.
There are four efforts throughout Niagara County. Tomorrow's events will take place at the the Discovery Center in Lockport, at the Carmen Bridge in Middleport, and at Mayor's Park in North Tonawanda. Also, a group will meet at 12:30 on Sunday at Dolan park in Lockport.
Last year, 95 groups throughout the Canal Corridor, including municipalities, not-for-profit organizations, civic groups, and businesses, took part in the cleanup.
