The City of Lockport Common Council passed a local law amending the Wards and Boundries on Wednesday.

The five wards were realigned based on the 2010 census numbers. Attorney John Drexelius, who was hired as a consultant by the city, met with the Common Council prior to last night's vote to answer questions regarding the redistricting. He said he's pleased with this plan.

Aldermen Jack Smith and Andrew Chapman voted against the resolution. Chapman expressing concern over moving too quickly, suggested the council take their time and possibly form a committee similar to what was done in 2001. Smith requested information regarding income levels and political divisions.
