A Lockport man was charged with second-degree attempted murder after he allegedly put a butcher's knife in the back of a 65-year-old woman, putting her in critical condition.
47-year-old Hans Diefenbach of Genesee Street is accused of what police called a violent, unexpected attack on Norma Confer, who was rushed to ECMC.
According to police, Diefenbach stabbed Confer in her nightgown after kicking in her door.
When asked why he had blood on his clothing, police said he responded: "From stabbing Norma."
Diefenbach pleaded not guilty and was being held in Niagara County Jail on $500,000 bail. ECMC confirmed Friday morning that Confer was still in critical condition.
