On the brink of eliminating the Flyers, the Sabres are now forced to play a seventh and deciding game in its Eastern Conference playoff series with the Flyers. That's because Philadelphia won yesterday 5-4 in overtime at HSBC Arena, evening the best-of-seven series against the Sabres at three games apiece.
The Flyers' Ville Leino pushed in a loose puck 4:43 into overtime giving Philly the victory.
The Sabres chased starting goalie Michael Leighton after the first period, but Flyers center Danny Briere says Brian Boucher played well in relief.
Meanwhile, Sabres goalie Ryan Miller 44 saves, but it wasn't enough. Thomas Vanek had a pair of goals for Buffalo, while Rob Niedermeyer and Nathan Gerbe also scored. The series wraps up tomorrow night in what should be an eventful Game Seven at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Derek Roy is expected to be ready to play for that game.
