Woman dies after motorcycle crash in Lewiston

A City of Tonawanda woman was killed when she flew off the back of a motorcycle in the Town of Lewiston on Saturday night and the man driving the cycle has been charged with driving while intoxicated and vehicular manslaughter.

51-year-old Pauline VanThiel was flown by Mercy Flight to ECMC on Saturday night after the accident, but she died in the emergency room soon after.

43-year-old Douglas A. Bruce was charged in the incident after the vehicle he was driving on Upper Mountain Road crossed the median and smashed head-on with a pickup truck.

Bruce suffered minor injuries, while the driver of the truck wasn't injured, and no charges have been filed against him.
