Two men on the brink of the falls were pulled to safety Monday during a daring rescue by local authorities.

Police say 25-year-old Robert Jackubec and 27-year-old Raymond Metzger were boating around Grand Island at about 2:30 on Monday afternoon when their motor stalled.

The Erie County Sheriff's Marine Unit responded to a cell phone call from the boaters, who were then pulled to safety by a line when they sat less than 1,000 feet from the falls. Both men were not injured.
