A local state assemblyman thinks an old stunt could bring new visitors to the Niagara Falls area.

John Ceretto is sponsoring legislation that would allow daredevil Nik Wallenda to go across the Niagara Falls River Gorge on a high wire. Ceretto said that the attraction could be a boon for the falls, saying it could promote tourism, although he did say such stunts wouldn't be a cure-all for the ails the American side has faced.

Wallenda holds a pair of world records for his high wire performances and is the star of a new Discovery Channel show entitled "Man Up," which focuses on his high wire exploits.
