Motorola VP angry with county's decision

After a scathing letter from the vice president of a rival company, a now-controversial bill to construct a new emergency radio system throughout the county could be tabled before tomorrow night's meeting of the county legislature.

Motorola vice president David White questioned the county's choice of the Harris Corporation for the project, which he said would cost more and give the county an inferior product.

The letter claims that Motorola could build a system better than the one awarded to Harris for about $4 million, or could use existing equipment for a saving of more than $5 million.

Legislators are expected to decide today whether to table the agenda item.
