Lockport native Desiree Wiley finished as the third runner-up in the recent Miss New York State pageant held in Staten Island.
The current Miss Buffalo was one of 21 contestants for the title and for her efforts, she won a $2,000 scholarship.
Wiley took part in a week of downstate events, and made the cut when the field was pared to the top 11 and then the top 5.
The winner of the title was Kaitlin Monte, a Rochester native who works as an actress in New York City. She'll represent the state in the upcoming Miss America competition.
