While one defenseman with local ties has left the Chicago Blackhawks, another could be his eventual replacement.

After former Sabre Brian Campbell was dealt from Chicago to Florida just before the NHL draft, Niagara Falls native Adam Clendening was chosen by the Hawks with their second-round pick.

Clendening has had a storied junior career, winning gold medals for the United States in under-17 and under-18 World Tournaments.

He'll return to Boston College, where he hopes to build on a season in which he was named to the Hockey East all-freshman team.
