The former county treasurer is paying $17,000 to the state in exchange for closing an investigation into his handling of estate work.

A deal was signed on June 30, although David Broderick did not admit to any illegal activity in assigning his wife to sell homes he was controlling in his role as public administrator of estates.

According to a report, Broderick collected over $306,000 in commissions on estates during a five-year span on top of his county salary, although that's a common practice.

As part of the deal, he will not be allowed to work in government.
