One of the legends of Niagara Falls basketball decided some questionable financing has forced him to rethink a program for the city's youth.
Former LaSalle High School and UB great Modie Cox has suspended his "Winning Because I Tried" program because he said he's had trouble getting reimbursed for projects.
The program was supposed to receive $10,000 from the city as part of the Legends Court initiative this summer, but Cox said invoices have not been paid. He canceled a four-hour session that was planned last night.
City officials say they're working with Cox to get the popular program back up and running quickly. Cox led LaSalle to a state championship in 1988 before becoming one of the best at UB.
