A tourist is lucky to be alive today as she fell into gorge near Devil's Hole on Monday afternoon, but was saved when a Whirlpool Jet Boat rescued her.

The woman fell into the gorge after 1 p.m after she was reaching down, trying to touch the water, and she flipped in and got taken by the current.

The 30-year-old woman and her fiance are from Missouri. She was taken to Mount St. Mary's Hospital, but then rushed to ECMC by Mercy Flight.

And that wasn't the only incident in the river yesterday. The Niagara Falls (Ont.) Review reported that a police negotiator talked a "distraught" man in from the Niagara River, just above the Horseshoe Falls Monday afternoon. He was taken into custody for his own protection.

The paper reported that the man had waded into the river from the shore near the Dufferin Islands park and was perched on some rocks.
