A Niagara Falls businessman has pled guilty to corruption charges. John J. Gross Jr. plead guilty Tuesday to felony mail fraud and tax evasion charges, and faces up to 23 years behind bars.
Gross, who is the founder of a Niagara Falls plumbing and heating company now operated by his son, admitted that he rigged bids using the letterhead of his competitors and by developing relationships with employees at the companies he wanted to get work from.
Gross previously served jail time in 1974 for grand larceny and conspiracy, and also went to prison for over three years in the 90's on charges of racketeering and other crimes.
