Talks will continue next week between management at Eastern Niagara Hospital and the nurses union, although little progress was made Thursday during a 12-hour negotiating session. A federal mediator was on hand but couldn't help the two sides reach common ground on the topic of pensions.
The 125 nurses have been working without a contract since April 1. If the two sides don't come to an agreement, the union will likely vote on whether or not a strike.
They'll need to give the hospital and the federal government 10 days notice.
