In Olcott, the Niagara County Health Department has ordered Krull Park Beach to be temporarily shut down, again. Two water samples from the beach showed elevated levels of the E. coli bacteria. This is the sixth time during the Summer season that Krull Park Beach has been shut down due to elevated levels of E. coli bacteria. The most recent shutdown was from August 9th to the 13th. The county environmental health director, James Devald has stated that the high levels of bacteria in both the shallow and deep waters were the reason for the lastest closure. Currently there is a study to determine the source of the bacteria, but Devald has said the results aren't expected until next year.
