Ashland Advanced Materials, LLC was awarded $225,000 in funding from the Empire State Development Corporation. The funding will help the carbon and graphite manufacter expand its operations and establish a graphic manufacturing facility in the long-abandoned SGL Carbon site located at 6100 Niagara Falls Blvd. in Niagara Falls. The company plans to renovate the100,000 square foot carbon manufacturing plant, purhcasing new machinery, equipment, furnaces and power systems. The grant money will specifically go toward purchasing and installing the equipment. The project has a total price tag of over $8 million as of now. The company was established in 2008 and has created 28 jobs so far and plan to create another 75 by January 2013.
