Despite pushing from a City of Lockport alderman, the topic of term limits failed to come to a vote during Wednesday's council meeting.

Fourth ward representative Andrew Chapman has pushed a proposal that would limit the mayor to two consecutive terms of office and aldermen to three straight terms. The measure has been tabled, but despite Chapman's attempts to bring it back in front of the board, the board voted no to waiving the rules.

Opponents on the board say there's been little response from voters, but Chapman insists it's one of the reasons he was elected.
