Falls DPW worker pleads to charge he picked up prostitute

A former Niagara Falls DPW worker who was embroiled in a pair of scandals during his time with the city pleaded guilty on Wednesday after an incident in which he allegedly picked up a prostitute while on the job.

James Curtis pleaded down to a charge of disorderly conduct in city court on Wednesday, which means he'll only face fines and some community service.

The 54-year-old has since retured from the city, meaning he'll still get a pension.

According to police, Curtis took a known prostituebehind the Off Track Betting parlor on Pine Avenue and paid her $10 to perofmr oral sex while in a city truck.

Curtis had previously found trouble in 2008 when he posted a "Whites Only" sign over a drinking fountain at the DPW garage.
