The annual Niagara County Peach Festival kicks off today in Lewiston. The annual three-day Peach Festival opens at 5 p.m. in Academy Park and along Center Street. The Peach Festival will feature music, carnival rides, stage activities and food, including plenty of fresh Niagara County peaches. The festival will run from 5 to 11 p. m. today; 11 a. m. to 11 p. m. Saturday; and 11 a. m. to 10 p. m. Sunday. Tomorrow will have the annual Peach Festival Parade which will begin earlier this year than in year's past. The earlier starting time for the parade is to accommodate the schedules of the parade's featured band, the U.S. Marine Drum and Bugle Corps of Albany Georgia, and the honorary parade marshal, Sgt. Major Michael Barrett, an '81 Lewiston-Porter High School graduate and highest ranking enlisted man in the Marine Corps. The 104 unit parade will begin at 10:45 a.m. intead of 11 a.m. with the parade assembling at North Fourth Street and Center Street. They will march along Center to Academy Park where the Peach Festival is located.
