The state's Department of Transportation announced changes to a dangerous stretch of a Town of Lockport road on Monday.

D-O-T Commissioner Joan McDonald said safety improvements have been made on Dysinger Road, near where a pair of teens were hit in the spring.

Crosswalks and stop bars were recently installed at the intersection of Dysinger and Beattie. Also, pedestrian signals with countdown timers were added over the summer at all four corners of the intersection.

Still to come are fluorescent warning signs and rumble strips and a bike lane with pavement bike symbols will be striped on the shoulder. Sidewalks will also be installed on south side of Dysinger Road from Centre Street to Raymond Road.

This comes after teens Anthony SanMarco and Christian Shufelt were hit while walking on the road back in May.
