According to a report from Channel 4 WIVB-TV, a joint investigation involving the Lockport Police Department, Niagara County District Attorney's Office and the Niagara County Sheriff's Office has resulted in the arrest of a 7-year Niagara County Sheriff Deputy.

The station said Kevin J. Rohde has been suspended with pay, as required by Civil Service Law, this morning.

This also from Channel 4:

"He is being charged with Rape in the 1st Degree, a Class B Felony, punishable with up to 25 years in prison. The allegation stems from a 1999 incident that predates Rohde's employment at the Niagara County Sheriff's Office. Rohde was known to the victim's family and the investigation is ongoing.

Rohde was arraigned before Justice Watson in Lockport City Court and bail was set at $2,500. Rohde is scheduled to be in Lockport City Court on Monday, Sept. 19.

In an effort to safeguard the identity and privacy of the victim, police have said no further information will be revealed at this time."
