Standoff in DeVeaux ends peacefully

The Niagara Falls Police SWAT team was called into end a standoff of more than four hours late Wednesday evening.

Police were called to a home in the DeVeaux neighborhood where a man has barricaded himself inside the house.

Family members told police that the 48-year-old man, whose name has yet to be released, had a gun in the Meadowbrook Drive home.

Police tried to wait the man out at first, but then decided to take action around 10 p.m.

The man was taken into custody without incident, and transported to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for evaluation.
