A proposal to limit terms for those who serve in the City of Lockport was shot down during Wednesday's common council meeting.
The proposal was introduced by Andy Chapman, and would have required the mayor to take a break from the office after serving two consecutive terms, and aldermen to take a break after three consecutive terms.
The measure was shot down by a 4 to 2 margin with the only other vote coming from second ward alderman Jack Smith.
This isn't the first time the proposal was shot down. In 2010, a similar measure was defeated by the same 4 to 2 vote.
