Destino blames Dyster for Unifrax move out of Falls

Niagara Falls Republican mayoral candidate Johnny Destino put the blame on current mayor Paul Dyster on Monday, saying a company that provided nearly 100 jobs left town because of his inaction.

Unifrax, an insulation manufacturing company, announced it will move its corporate headquarters to the City of Tonawanda as part of an expansion after receiving assistance from the Empire State Development Corporation.

With the move, more than $8 million in annual salaries are slated to leave the county, but a Unifrax official told the media that only 15 of the company's 94 employees actually lived in the Falls.

According to officials, Unifrax had considered a move to Indiana before settling on the City of Tonawanda location ...
