A pair of volunteer firefighters in Barker have been arrested and charged with falsely reporting an incident after they allegedly sent colleagues on fake calls in the middle of the night.

County Sheriff's deputies say that 26-year-old Andrew Steel and 23-year-old Travis McKenna bought a portable radio on E-Bay, programmed it to activate the Barker Volunteer Fire Department's pagers, and sent firefighters to a false house fire call on Quaker Road with instructions that people were trapped inside.

Both of the men have been suspended pending further action by the fire company ... The pair were arraigned and will return to court in December ...
