Union reps unhappy with county wage freezes

As expected, union representatives blasted county law makers on Tuesday night on a 2012 budget they say is unfairly eliminating step increases for county employees. The $316 million budget goes up for vote on December 20, and if it gets through the legislature, the unions could file grievances.

Lawmakers say the wage freezes are necessary, however, and point to the loss of just 11 jobs in the current budget, while maintaining more than 1,400 full-time county employees.
