A plan that could help the city of Lockport evict consistent lawbreakers might get a second life as outgoing alderman Jack Smith called for a public hearing on the law Wednesday.

The public nuisance abatement law would give the city a chance to evict those who accumulate points for offenses like drugs, guns, sex offenses or even failing to shovel their snow.

The public hearing will probably be held on Dec. 21, although Smith couldn't get a second during Wednesday's meeting.
