Wheatfield backs independent SPCA investigation

Throwing yet another twist into a controversial story, Wheatfield Supervisor Robert Cliffe said on Tuesday the town is supporting a "totally independent investigation of recent SPCA actions."

Cliffe said the recent decision to allow the Erie County SPCA to investigate claims of animal mistreatment at the SPCA of Niagara doesn't sit well. He added that Barbara Carr, the Executive Director of the Erie County SPCA, has apparent connections with the Niagara County SPCA that bring her objectivity into question.

This took place after hundreds protested outside the Lockport Road building on Saturday, demanding for action after allegations that hundreds of animals were needlessly euthanized.
