A keynote speech delivered by the Rev. Dr. Derek Barber King Sr., a nephew of the late civil rights icon, will highlight a full slate of activities today as Niagara University observes the federal holiday that marks the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr..

The event also includes community service projects, mural displays, voter registration services and lectures on social justice.

King's speech will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Castellani Art Museum and will cover why principles employed by his uncle more than 40 years ago still apply today.
