A Hartland man who had mental health issues plunged to his death yesterday at the Niagara County jail as he was being transported to a state prison.
50-year-old Harold Case of Carmen Road climbed atop a railing and jumped two floors, all after leaving a suicide note in his cell. Case dove headifst and died from injuries sustained in the fall.
Case was in jail after being recently convicted for sexually assaulting a woman in Lockport back in March of 2011. Niagara County Sheriff Jim Voutour said it was the first suicide in the jail in three years.
