Lockport police are looking for three suspects they believe tried to rob a downtown jewelry store on Saturday afternoon.

According to police, a pair of black males and a black female entered the store at about 2 p.m. and created distractions to separate the staff and to get valuable jewels on top of the counters from within the secured cases.

After being in the store for about 25 minutes, one of the male suspects, along with the female suspect, cut a

security cable holding a ring. The cut cable created an alert to the staff and the suspects were confronted. A ring was determined to be missing from the display. The female suspect surrendered the ring when challenged by

staff and told the staff it must have slipped off her finger into her purse. The ring, valued at $2,650, was recovered and the three suspects left the store.

It appears the suspects were in a silver or gray Chrysler 300.

Lockport PD is looking to ID the trio and to make other retail stores aware of the activity and suspects.
