Lockport still cutting down trees from last spring's windstorm

The winds kicked in through Niagara County last night, but the Lockport Common Council is still tackling trees that fell during a windstorm last April.

The council approved a move on Wednesday to give more than $28,000 to a Rochester company to mulch trees that came down last spring.

There are too many trees for city crews to handle and with the Emerald Ash Borer spreading, the pile has to be cut to stop the beetle from growing.
