A Lockport man has been charged with sexually abusing a child after a girl under the age of 11 reported to her mother that she had been inappropriately touched.

State Police are saying that 38-year-old Robert Sawmiller was arrested after an investigation by State and City of Lockport Police. He was sent to Niagara County Jail on $5,000 bail.

Sawmiller was charged with two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

The endangering charges come after the accusation that a second child was in the room when the abuse occurred.
