State Senate Republicans are trying to protect the Seneca Nation's investment in three Western New York casinos.

The GOP lawmakers are calling for the state's casino plan to move forward without any non-Indian casinos in the Western part of the state. The region is protected territory under an agreement between the Senecas and the state.

However, the tribe has withheld hundreds of millions of dollars in payments to the state and local governments in a dispute over the placement of slot machines at area racetracks.
