Cuomo: Senecas could lose casinos in 2016

Governor Andrew Cuomo is hinting that the Western New York casinos operated by the Seneca Nation could close in three years.

Cuomo says unless the Senecas begin paying around 600-million-dollars in slot revenue sharing to the state, there is no way their compact will be renewed in 2016.

Although the state came to an agreement with the Oneida tribe in Central New York yesterday, he said the situation is very different.

The Senecas have withheld the payments to the state and their host communities in protest of the placement of slot machines at area racetracks, which they say violates the exclusive territory clause in their compact.
