A Niagara Falls businessman is being accused of trying to kill a rival following a long dispute over the sale of machinery.

Police say Timothy DePetris is responsible for the shooting of Sandro Viola, the owner of a Falls engine parts manufacturer.

Officials say at the time of his arrest, DePetris was living at the Seneca Niagara Casino and Hotel, where he has amassed huge gambling losses.

He is charged with attempted murder, assault and weapons offenses.
