NCCC baseball heading back to NJCAA Tournament

Congrats to the Niagara County Community College baseball team, which won its second consecutive Region III title and earned asecond straight berth to the NJCAA National Championship Tournament after defeating Erie CC in the Regional Championship 5-1 on Sunday in Little Falls. 

Head coach Matt Clingersmith celebrated his third Region III championship since taking over the program in 2007.

The Thunderwolves were 3-0 in the double elimination Regional Tournament with victories over Herkimer CC and Erie CC. Marcus Cavarello, Michael Elwood and Brandon Bielecki earned wins on the mound for the Thunderwolves, while freshman Russ McGibbon powered the offense this weekend earning him Region III All-Tournament team MVP. Sophomores Kyle Craig, Michael Elwood and Anthony Schiro were named to the Region III All-Tournament Team.

The Thunderwolves will play their first game at the NJCAA National Championship Tournament in Tyler, Texas, on Saturday, May 25th at 9 a.m.
