A Lockport man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after he drove his minivan into an apartment building.

47-year-old Gary Byrd of Oxford Lane said he was trying to back into a parking space when he lost control of the vehicle and it barreled into a wall.

Byrd refused medical treatment, but police performed field sobriety tests, which he failed.

Byrd submitted to a chemical breath test, which came back with a .10 B-A-C. He also had license suspended for failing to make child support payments so additional tickets were added.

He was taken to the county jail.
