After three years as the head of the Newfane Central School District, Christine Tibbetts announced on Wednesday that she'll be stepping down from the position effective June 30th.
Tibbetts started as a fifth-grade teacher in the district 37 years ago, and spent all but five years in Newfane's schools.
She was also a gifted-talented program coordinator, principal, and director of curriculum and instruction during her tenure.
Tibbetts said the development of its Project Ascend helps put the district on a positive path.
She also said in a letter to parents that her dream of implementing an engineering academy was one project she regretted never seeing come to fruition.
