A Town of Tonawanda man who recently was re-hired by a Wheatfield lawn company was charged with larceny after he took a work truck, stole $550 worth of copper wire, then crashed the truck in Buffalo.

Police saw surveillance video of 24-year-old Michael Hawk taking the copper from Beaver Lawn Care on Niagara Falls Boulevard.

When the company's owner called Hawk, he said he'd had a seizure and wasn't sure where the truck was, adding that he only took the truck to help his sister in Buffalo.

Police later found Hawk doesn't have a sister and that he was using drugs before the crash.
