Health insurance costs will force the Town of Lockport to pinch its budget even tighter.
Yesterday's town board meeting revealed that the town's health care costs for next year will jump about 40 percent, forcing the town to pay an extra $217,000 from last year's rate.
According to reports, the cause of the jump was some large claims the town put in.
And this isn't a one-time hit. The town's insurance broker told Town Supervisor Marc Smith to expect another jump of about 15 percent next year.
