It's sat dormant for years, but it looks the former Jubilee site in downtown Lockport might become a haven for hockey fans after all.
Plans are in place for the Lockport Ice Arena & Sports Complex at that Chestnut Street site and members of the board are starting to look at fundraising options, not to mention new plans for the project.
Chuck Bell of the Greater Lockport Development Corporation is on that board and he says local residents need to keep the faith that this important project is moving forward.
According to Bell, organizers are expecting to open the new twin-rink facility in August of 2014, although demolition of the current site has been pushed back until the summer concert series is through.
That project is expected to cost in the neighborhood of $10 million.
