We have a new hero here on the WLVL Morning Show: Let's hear it for Joe Jarka Jr. of Minnick Road in Lockport.
According to a report from the county sheriff's office, Jarka was driving on Rapids Road over the weekend when his 2001 Grand Am filled up with smoke.
Jarka pulled over, ran out of the vehicle, then saw flames at the bottom of the car near his gas tank.
Before he ran away, Jarka made an heroic decision -- running to the rear of the vehicle, popping the trunk and grabbing his golf clubs before getting out of harm's way.
Cost of the damage to his Grand Am is uncertain, but his dignity and any future tee times are fully intact.
