The state of New York is stepping up to help Lockport homeowners and businesses impacted by flash flooding on June 28th.

Governor Andrew Cuomo says Niagara County will be receiving two-million-dollars in reimbursement for flood damage.

The state decided to step in and help Niagara County and other hard hit areas after FEMA rejected aid requests for New York homeowners, according to City Attorney John Ottaviano, who noted that mayor Michael Tucker went to Albany to meet with the governor.

Around 600 homes in Lockport had flooded basements from the storm, and several businesses suffered damage as well.
