We talked a little last week about Yurts -- those are wood-framed structures covered in a high-grade canvas.
Crews are finishing up two yurts at Four Mile Creek State Park in Youngstown and two more will be up soon in Golden Hill State Park in northeastern Niagara County.
Yurts are like mini-cabins and they'll have wood floors, porches and some cabin-like amenities. They should be ready to rent out by next spring.
Angela Berti of New York State Parks said the Yurts are just part of a bigger improvement plan at Golden Hill.
Also going in there is a new state-of-the-art restroom with showers and Berti said that will help with the entire camping experience.
"Our camping parks are so popular, and Golden Hill is popular," Berti said. "And restroom facilities are a priority. When we do have that extra capital money, that's where we're looking to use that. What benefits the patrons the most. We're looking at infrastructure and restrooms.
"And I hear that this one's going to be a doozy."
